Wefwila Wilkista KhakasaWefwila Wilkista Khakasa is a results-driven Clinical Nutritionist, Food Science Researcher, and AFRIAK Fellow with five years of experience implementing impactful food security and nutrition projects across Kenya. A BSc graduate in Food Nutrition and Dietetics and a licensed professional by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dietitians Institute, she is currently advancing her expertise through a Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Wefwila’s career is anchored in the vital Agriculture-Nutrition-Health nexus, where she specializes in translating complex scientific concepts into practical, community-level solutions that enhance both livelihoods and public health. Her technical background spans Clinical Nutrition with specific expertise in Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) and the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and a strong command of program management and community resilience building. As a dedicated researcher, Wefwila has authored and co-authored several publications focused on value addition and nutrition resilience, including innovative work on micronutrient-rich bean recipes. Driven by her fellowship and academic pursuits, she remains a computer-literate leader and critical thinker dedicated to bridging the gap between research and real-world application to ensure the availability of nutritious food and health knowledge for communities throughout Kenya and beyond.
